Genevieve Reed secures the acquittal of man accused of attempting to rape a stranger in a hotel

October 17, 2017

The defendant who had no previous convictions was accused of detaining a woman he had never met inside a cubicle of the men’s toilets in hotel, demanding oral sex and removing her clothes.

In addition to calling the Complainant, the Crown relied upon the evidence of a third party who was in the toilets at the same time as the alleged incident and recent complaint evidence as well as forensic evidence.

The jury returned a unanimous verdict of not guilty in under 30 minutes.
