Joanna Hardy successfully defends in firearm and ammunition trial

December 7, 2017

Joanna Hardy has concluded the trial of a young man accused of possessing a firearm and ammunition.  Joanna successfully applied to dismiss the ammunition count at the outset of the trial.

The evidence in relation to the firearm was the presence of the defendant’s DNA on the grip, trigger and trigger-guard. The firearm was found concealed in the boot of the defendant’s father’s vehicle. The defendant’s father had already pleaded guilty to possession of it in those circumstances.

The defendant accepted momentarily touching the firearm but asserted he had immediately rejected it. He denied possession or joint possession.

The defendant was unanimously acquitted after trial.
