David Walbank QC Obtains Confiscation Orders Worth More Than £1 Million In Modern Slavery Case

Following a 5-day confiscation hearing in the Nottingham Crown Court, David Walbank QC has obtained confiscation orders against 12 defendants, following their conviction for a range of modern slavery offences.

The aggregate value of the orders is £1,083,403.50 with the main defendant ordered to pay confiscation in the sum of £438,000. In addition, substantial compensation was awarded to the vulnerable victims of these offences. The trial judge also made Slavery and Trafficking Prevention Orders against 8 of the defendants with Serious Crime Prevention Orders against a further 2 individuals.

Today’s hearing brings to a conclusion this long-running investigation by the Lincolnshire Police and the ensuing series of trials prosecuted by the East Midlands Complex Casework Unit.
