David Young appointed Defence Counsel in indictment alleging Crimes against Humanity and War Crimes in Kosovo Specialist Chambers

Following their arrests by the Specialist Prosecutor on 4 and 5 November, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi were transferred to the Detention Facilities of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC) in The Hague.

On 12 November 2020, David Young was appointed lead Defence Counsel to represent Mr. Rexhep Selimi, who had pleaded Not Guilty to an indictment alleging Crimes against Humanity and War Crimes under international law. The legal defence team for Mr. Selimi includes Mr. Geoffrey Roberts, as Co-Counsel, and Dr. Rudina Jasini and Fortuna Sheremeti as legal consultants.

The former President of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaci was represented by Mr. David Hooper QC. Mr. Kadri Veseli was represented by Mr. Ben Emmerson CBE QC. Mr Jackup Krasniqi by Ms. Venkateswari Alagendra.

On 5 November 2020, pleas of Not guilty were entered. On 18 November 2020 a status conference was held before the Pre-Trial Judge Nicolas Guillou.
