Noel Casey, in his role as an Officer of the South-Eastern Circuit Committee, has just completed drafting the Circuit’s Official Response to the Ministry of Justice Consultation on vital changes to the pre-charge bail regime.

The current regime, generally known by its acronym ‘RUI’ (Released Under Investigation) has become associated with ever-increasing delays in cases coming to court.

The Consultation Response not only analyses the problem but also explains that the cause of the unacceptable delays, and the proper remedies, go further than mere changes to RUI.
