Red Lion Chambers proudly sponsoring 2019 Mock Trials with Young Citizens this Saturday at Guildford Crown Court.

Barristers from chambers have been into schools to train students on court room advocacy in preparation for the Bar Mock Trial Competition Guildford Regional Heat taking place this weekend. Organised by Michael Goodwin QC and Felicia Davy Judges include HHJ Durran, HHJ Taylor, Jeremy Benson QC and Sailesh Mehta.

8 schools from the South of England will be taking part with around 100 students in attendance.

Michael Goodwin QC said: “On behalf of Red Lion Chambers we are proud to be sponsoring this Saturday’s South of England Young Citizens mock trial heat. It gives young people from diverse backgrounds a platform for public speaking and trial advocacy. It is also great experience for the students to gain a practical learning experience of the workings of the criminal justice system.”

The school engagement opportunity is run by the charity Young Citizens who celebrate their 30th year of making a difference to young people, empowering them to become active and informed citizens.

Barrister Mentors included David Walbank QC, Aimee Riese, Zoe Chapman, Helena Spector, Nick Hall, David Miller, Nina Tavakoli, Sam Smart, Laura Jane Miller, Lauren Sales, Bethan Rogers and Tom Jones.
