Riel Karmy-Jones QC, Instructed by Capsticks and leading Rupert Allen of Fountain Court Chambers, successfully prosecutes Ryan Beckwith, a former partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in ground breaking case of sexual misconduct.

The incident occurred following an after-work drinks evening in July 2016, after which Beckwith accompanied a highly intoxicated junior associate back to her flat and there engaged in sexual activity with her. The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found his actions unprofessional, and inappropriate, and he should have known the junior’s judgement was impaired by alcohol. He had by his actions breached the Solicitors Regulation Authority Principles 2 and 6, namely that lawyers must act with integrity; and behave in a way that maintains the public’s trust in both the profession and in the provision of legal services.
