RLC case featured in new crime documentary aired by BBC2 called Murder 24/7

February 25, 2020
RLC members Riel Karmy-Jones QC and Noel Casey successfully defended the only female among 4 defendants tried for a drugs related murder, which features in the TV coverage of BBC Two’s new crime documentary Murder 24/7.

The female defendant, Kelly King, who featured as the main suspect in the first episode of the documentary, was acquitted of murder and convicted of manslaughter in the alternative. The investigation and trial showed how King was exploited by drug dealers in Southend, and on the defence case ‘cuckooed’. But enlisting the help of a new boyfriend tragically led to the death of the victim, Courtney Valentine Brown.
